Eileen Voltz has been an educator for 29 years and has spent the last 19 years teaching high school mathematics at The Charter School of Wilmington. She previously taught at Glasgow High School for six years and Kirk Middle School for her first three years.
Eileen currently teaches 9th-12th grade Advanced Placement (AP) Statistics, Beyond AP Statistics, SAT Prep, Calculus, and Integrated Mathematics II. She works with colleagues in professional learning communities and numerous organizations. In addition to teaching, Eileen designed the curriculum for Probability and Statistics, Research Statistics, and Beyond AP Statistics courses. She has served as a mentor for new teachers and supervises the freshmen orientation and mentoring programs.
Eileen holds high standards for all students and challenges them to engage in mathematical discussions where mistakes are the stepping stones for success. Students in Eileen’s class can be found problem-solving in groups, presenting their ideas to the class, and making connections to the outside world. She uses technology to enhance learning and demonstrate the beauty of mathematics.
Eileen has led professional development sessions at both the district and state level and has presented several times at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Annual Conference. As an AP Statistics grader, she is able to collaborate with outstanding educators from around the world.
Eileen earned a B.S.Ed. in elementary education with a concentration in middle school mathematics, a Master of Instruction degree in mathematics and technology, and an Ed.D. in educational leadership, all from the University of Delaware. She is a certified secondary mathematics, middle level mathematics, English language arts, social studies, and elementary teacher.
