I am so grateful to have been nominated for the Presidential Award. It is a testament to the collaboration, love, care, and support I have received from my department, colleagues and administrators, as well as the mathematics teachers and professionals that I have had the tremendous opportunity to work with and learn from over the past 14 years. I am even more motivated now to continue pushing myself to improve and to challenge my colleagues to join me on the journey.

Jessica Haskins has been a teacher for 14 years, with the last 12 years at Webster Groves High School. She currently teaches Honors Geometry and Algebra 2 Trig to 9th-12th grade students. She has also taught Algebra 1, Algebra 3, and Pre-Calculus. Jessica's first two years were at Lebanon High School. Jessica is dedicated to improving her craft as well as supporting other educators in their professional journey. She has served as co-Department Chair for the last two years, and is a member of the professional learning community leadership team and the equity committee. Jessica has presented at several regional and district conferences, offering strategies to increase student engagement, as well as strategies to implement problem solving and problem-based learning activities in the mathematics classroom. Jessica develops strong relationships with her students which allows her to support their relationship with the subject. She creates a classroom environment that celebrates students’ voices and ideas and supports their productive struggle through new and complex content. Her passion and enthusiasm are rooted in the belief that anyone can be a “math person”. Jessica earned her bachelor's in mathematics education from University of Missouri–St. Louis and her master's in athletic administration from William Woods University. She is certified in grades 9–12 mathematics.
