Carolyn Petite has been a teacher for 31 years. She has spent the last 25 years teaching mathematics and computer science at Chagrin Falls High School. She previously taught at the Hebrew Academy of Cleveland for four years and began her teaching career at Orange High School for three years.
Carolyn currently teaches Computer Programming, Advanced Placement Computer Science A, and Honors Advanced Data Structures to 9th-12th graders. She incorporates physical computing experiences and application development into her classroom activities. Her students program EV3 robots, drones, and publish applications in Apple's App Store. Carolyn's students perform community service by teaching elementary age students how to code using Dash robots.
In the summer of 2019, Carolyn led a computer science certification workshop which helped multiple Cleveland-area teachers gain the knowledge needed to pass the state certification test for computer science.
Carolyn earned a B.S. in computer and information science from the College of Engineering at The Ohio State University. She earned a M.Ed. from Kent State University in instructional technology. She is certified in 7–12 mathematics and computer science and is a level one Google Certified Educator.
