Yamitza Rosas Rodriguez

Yamitza Rosas Rodriguez has been an educator for more than 16 years at the Dr. Carlos Gonzalez High School. She currently teaches technology and computer science courses to 10th-12th grade students. Yamitza also oversees the computer science honor society, technology club, MIT launchX club, and girls who code club.
Yamitza’s love of teaching goes beyond the classroom. She is responsible for designing and implementing a computer science curriculum to be at the forefront with the best technological practices in the world. She works with her students in the development of web applications to solve real-world problems. One of the projects created in her classroom was enacted into law by the Governor of Puerto Rico and will be implemented in all public schools on the island.
Yamitza prepares and mentors students who work on technology and STEM research projects with the latest technology trends in regional, state, and international competitions. She also offers technology and entrepreneurship workshop to teachers and students.
Yamitza earned a B.S., magna cum laude, in business administration from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus, and a M.Ed. in educational technology in instructional systems from Caribbean University, Ponce Campus. She is certified as a specialist in educational technology and as a technology, STEM, and mathematics high school teacher. She is also certified as a Microsoft innovative educator expert and office specialist. Yamitza is member of the Computer Science Teachers Association.
