Suzie Welch has been an educator for 25 years in the Lamar County School District, where she teaches mathematics at Oak Grove High School.
Suzie is known for challenging her students to excel beyond their expectations. Under her leadership, her Precalculus, Trigonometry, and Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus students are well prepared for the next level of mathematics. She incorporates technology and uses innovative teaching techniques to help her students learn and appreciate the beauty of mathematics.
Staying involved in professional development activities such as College Board Institutes, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics conferences, and technology workshops informs Suzie of the latest research in education, which she implements in her classroom.
Suzie has served as the Mathematics Department Chair for more than 15 years. She also serves as Collaborative Team Leader and has mentored many teachers and student teachers. This has given her the opportunity to share her expertise with other teachers throughout the years.
Suzie has a B.S. in Mathematics and an M.Ed. from the University of Southern Mississippi. She is certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in secondary education.
