Susan Louise Bigge teaches Physics at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, OK. She has been teaching at the high school for eight years. She teaches physics, AP physics, and International Baccalaureate physics and was the only physics teacher at the high school.
Ms. Bigge cofounded a robotics club at the school and she also founded and devised the STEPS program, which finds teacher mentors for high-risk students as they transition into high school. She previously served as the Science Bowl and Academic Bowl coach. At the district level, Ms. Bigge has written and edited the school district’s physics pacing calendars, ensuring the physics lessons are aligned with standards. She has also assisted with the State’s science textbook adoption process, evaluating materials for the district.
Ms. Bigge is considered an inspirational leader in science education to both her peers and students. She keeps students challenged and moving forward, and she holds special study sessions for students taking the AP, International Baccalaureate, and final exams.
Ms. Bigge received an AP Award from Siemens.
Ms. Bigge holds National Board Certification in secondary science (physics). She has a B.A. in physics from Oxford University and a Post-Graduate Certificate in education from the University of Newcastle (United Kingdom).
