While winning awards has never been my reason for choosing education as a career, the recognition for my quest for excellence in the classroom is certainly appreciated. To win the Presidential Award is the highest honor that can be achieved by an educator and to even be considered is truly a dream. I take great pride in the work that I do with my students and feel blessed to do what I do every day. Acknowledgement for something that I love to do is icing on the cake.
Rebecca Link has been an educator at Fort Recovery Middle School for 22 years. She has spent 21 of those years teaching sixth, seventh, and eighth grade mathematics. Rebecca is currently teaching seventh grade Mathematics, eighth grade Pre-algebra, and eighth grade Algebra 1.
Rebecca feels that the best and brightest days in her classroom are when the students are presenting their solutions to each other and are learning to communicate mathematically in both oral and written form. It is a classroom goal for students to become independent thinkers and problem solvers and be able to share their thinking with others.
Rebecca also facilitates district-wide and regional mathematics workshops for area teachers. Her workshops focus on teaching student-centered mathematics that promote problem solving in the classroom. One component of these workshops includes online facilitation, where Rebecca supports a network of teachers throughout the school year.
Rebecca has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Bowling Green State University, a master's degree in Teacher Leadership from Wright State University, and a certificate in secondary integrated mathematics for grades 7-12. She is National Board Certified in early adolescence mathematics.
