Lisa Conzemius, a mathematics teacher at Detroit Lakes Senior High School in Detroit Lakes, MN, has been teaching for 19 years. Ms. Conzemius has worked in the Detroit Lakes Public School District for 14 years as a mathematics teacher and currently teaches integrated algebra II, integrated analysis, and advanced placement calculus.
Ms. Conzemius has been instrumental in developing and implementing new and existing mathematics courses. She is described as being on the cutting edge of instructional innovations to strengthen her classroom instruction and challenge her students. She also makes herself available outside the classroom, contacting parents and assisting students.
In addition, Ms. Conzemius has shared her expertise with teachers in other States by serving as a trainer for Core Plus, an integrated mathematics program. In one instance, she was credited with contributing to raising State scores in mathematics. Ms. Conzemius also has served as a mentor/facilitator for the online Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Beginning Teacher Mentor Program.
Ms. Conzemius won the Samuel F. Hubert Outstanding Teacher Award in 2007, which is given by the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology to a teacher who played a pivotal role in a student’s decision to pursue mathematics study.
Ms. Conzemius is certified to teach grades seven through twelve mathematics. She has a B.A. in mathematics and computer science from Concordia College and an M.A. in curriculum and instruction from South Dakota State University. She also earned a Teaching with Technology Certificate from Hamline University.
