Linn Lee Griffiths

Bel Air, MD

Linn Lee Griffiths has taught science in the Harford County Public Schools in Maryland at both the middle school and high school level for 18 years. She has been in her current position at C. Milton Wright High School for nine years. She teaches 10th-grade biology and 11th- and 12th-grade AP environment science. She is also an adjunct instructor for Plymouth State University in New Hampshire for environmental graduate studies. She serves as a State Service Learning Fellow, providing in-service science activities for teachers, and is the school’s recycling coordinator and Envirothon coach.

Ms. Griffiths is known for providing authentic learning experiences to students and other teachers inside and outside the classroom. Students think of her as a teacher who has passion, enthusiasm, and energy with a dedication to their education. She is known to affect the lives of her students by linking science concepts to their lives and showing how the way in which they live their life will impact the planet. She involves her students in tree plantings, Earth Day celebrations, stream programs, and Chesapeake Bay restoration projects.

Ms. Griffiths was the Susquehannock Environmental Center’s Middle School Environmental Teacher of the Year, Secondary Conservation Teacher of the Year for the Northeast Region from the National Association of Conservation Districts, and a Maryland Service Learning Fellow.

Ms. Griffiths holds certification in biology and general science for grades five through twelve. She has a B.S. in secondary education from York College of Pennsylvania and an M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction from Loyola College (Maryland). She earned a 30 beyond a Master's in Administration and Supervision.
