Being nominated for the Presidential Award is a very humbling experience for me. I am honored to be associated with distinguished educators. This prestigious award reflects the dedication and passion that I have for teaching, my students, and my school. I value and thank each of my students for allowing me the opportunity to impact their lives. With this award, I will continue to serve as a model for the teaching profession and help influence educators in doing what is best for the children.
Linda Fountain has been an educator for 7 years and is employed at Rollins Elementary School in the Richmond County School System. She has taught mathematics in third, fourth, and fifth grades.
Linda's dedication to student learning is evident in her leadership with colleagues. She is on the school leadership team, is lead teacher of the school improvement plan, and has developed standards-based progress reports implemented by the school. She serves as a district mentor teacher, conducts professional learning focused on mathematics, and is a member of the district's curriculum council for mathematics. In addition, she sponsors her school's student council and student mathematics team.
Linda is the epitome of excellence in teaching. Utilizing data with a variety of instructional strategies, she ensures that each student meets all standards. Assessment of student learning in her classroom is continuous. Because of the success they experience, her students love mathematics.
Linda has a B.S. in early childhood education from Augusta State University. She has an M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction from Grand Canyon University. She has an Ed.S. in educational leadership and is currently completing a doctorate in education at Liberty University. Linda is certified in early childhood education.
