Lesley Marie Lamphier

Moline, IL

Lesley Lamphier has 12 years of teaching experience and has been a mathematics teacher at Moline High School in Moline, IL, since 1998. She teaches six courses, including AP calculus. She holds certification in secondary school mathematics at both the master and standard levels, and she is a National Board Certified Teacher.

Parents praise her individualized approach to teaching; she accommodates students’ different learning styles while expecting high-quality results and hard work. According to one parent, Ms. Lamphier’s patient and relentless efforts inspired two brothers with very different learning styles to become successful university students.

Ms. Lamphier has been active in her school and currently serves on the School Improvement Team, on the Professional Development and Professional Learning Communities committees, and as a representative to the Moline Education Association Negotiations Team. Her past committee participation has included the Communications Team and the Discipline Committee. Colleagues and school administrators praise her leadership and involvement. She is described as seeking continual improvement and as someone who does not compromise on excellence. During the past five years, Ms. Lamphier has pursued numerous professional development opportunities, including conferences and workshops covering Differentiated Instruction, Life Skills for Students, and Using Geometer’s Sketchpad in the Classroom.

Ms. Lamphier received the Moline School District Award of Excellence and the Moline High School PTA Book of Recognition Award. She has been named in Who’s Who Among American Teachers.

Ms. Lamphier has a B.A. in mathematics and teaching of mathematics from the University of Illinois and a Master of School Mathematics from Iowa State University, where she was named to Phi Kappa Phi.
