Judson Edward Wagner

Wilmington, DE

Judson Edward Wagner teaches physics at Concord High School in Wilmington, DE, and currently serves as the science department chair. Mr. Wagner has taught physics for 11 years. He teaches conceptual physics, college prep physics, and AP physics. Previously, he taught physical science courses. Mr. Wagner serves as the advisor for the Concord Science National Honor Society. Earlier, he served as advisor for the Concord Technology Student Association and the Concord Web Team.

Mr. Wagner is known as a team player, willing to help other teachers as well as students. He has developed Microsoft Excel-based exams that allow a teacher to examine test results and determine which areas should be targeted for extra teaching. He has also reached out to students who typically do not take physics classes, such as African-American and female students. His AP classes now include African-American and female students who successfully complete the AP exam. In order to help students learn, he has developed his own teaching tools, including an electronic textbook of concepts and animations using Macromedia Flash. Mr. Wagner focuses his lessons on his students, allowing them to collect their own data and learn from their results.

Mr. Wagner has received several awards, including Concord High School’s 2003 Teacher of the Year. He was the 2006 winner of Cable’s Leaders in Learning Award for “Tools for the Reflective Teacher” and recipient of the 2006 Advanced Placement Recognition Award (Middle States Regional Office).

Mr. Wagner holds national Board certification in physics. He also holds a Certificate of Advanced Study in applied technology in education. Mr. Wagner has a B.S. in physics from Elizabethtown College and an M.Ed. in instructional technology from Wilmington College.
