Cheryl Angeline Mosier teaches ninth-grade earth science at Columbine High School in Littleton, CO. She has taught at the high school for 11 years; her teaching career spans 16 years. Ms. Mosier participates in the Strategies Class Implementation Team, designed to reach at-risk students. She brought the American Students Fund Program, a character education program, to the high school. Ms. Mosier serves on the district’s Earth Science Textbook Selection and Performance Expectations Committees. She was instrumental in having EarthComm adopted in the school district, and she has been training teachers across the county on its use in the classroom.
Ms. Mosier is described as having an unwavering commitment to students. She sets high standards for students and uses various teaching approaches so students can understand the concepts. Parents comment that she is committed to them in addition to being committed to her students. She has a passion for teaching and is a lifelong learner. She is known for her leadership of department members and working collaboratively with others; administrators want their own children to be in her class. Ms. Mosier is highly regarded for using student assessment data to inform her teaching.
Ms. Mosier has received the Colorado Association of Science Teachers High School Science Teaching Award, Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists Foundation Award for Excellence in Teaching of the Earth Sciences, CAST Science Salute, and Lockheed Martin Columbine Memorial Scholarship.
Ms. Mosier holds a State license in secondary science. She has a B.A. in earth science education and physical science education from the University of Northern Colorado and an M.A. in teaching from Grand Canyon University.
