Anna Holm is a full-time mathematics instructor and valued member of the staff of South High School in Denver, CO. After teaching mathematics, social studies, and reading in Horace Mann Middle School for four years, she began teaching algebra, geometry, and AP calculus at South High School in 1991. She holds NBPTS certifications in adolescence and young adulthood mathematics and secondary mathematics.
Ms. Holm has acted as a mentor, collaborator, and implementer for professional development training for the Interactive Mathematics Program, and she has taught all four years of this program. She has served as co-chair of the Denver Public Schools Professional Evaluation Workshop. In this capacity she has researched evaluation systems, created and tested a new system, and conducted professional development related to the system. She is also a teacher leader for the Secondary Teaching and Learning Project, Grading Workshop, and Math Curriculum Workshop.
Ms. Holm has been a participant and presenter at many other workshops and trainings, most recently serving as a speaker for “Combinations, Permutations AND Have Your Ice Cream.” In 2007 Ms. Holm was named Teacher of the Month. She has also been recognized as Teacher of the Year for Region 1of the Colorado Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
Described as a team player who contributes to a positive school climate, Ms. Holm receives praise for her commitment and leadership. She is credited with helping to significantly increase the number of students voluntarily taking a fourth year of mathematics.
Ms. Holm has a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Oregon and an M.A. in curriculum and pedagogy secondary mathematics from the University of Colorado at Denver.
