One room has been reserved for each nominee for the nights of April 28 through May 2, 2008 (5 nights). Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and check-out time is 12 noon. Be advised that rooms may not be available for early check-in if you are arriving prior to 3:00 p.m. However, the hotel will store luggage for a few hours.
Each nominee's hotel room charge for the five-night stay, including tax, will be on a master account. At check-in, the hotel will require that you present a credit card or a $50 deposit for miscellaneous expenses. Charges for additional rooms, additional nights, telephone, laundry, room service, room upgrades, accompanying guest expenses, or other incidentals are the responsibility of the nominee and must be paid before checking out of the hotel.
Please indicate on the online registration form any physical or other challenges requiring special accommodations to facilitate your full participation in Recognition Week activities.
Extended Stays
Nominees may request lodging for nights before or after the recognition event dates (April 28–May 2, 2008) at the special rate of $279 (single or double occupancy with $25 for a third person) plus 14.5 percent local tax, and must make this request at the time of registration. Costs incurred for additional nights are the responsibility of the nominee.
Guests and Additional Attendees
Guests are invited to attend certain events with the nominees as noted in the week's program. Additional attendees may travel to DC (on their own funds) and attend the Smithsonian and Award Ceremony at no cost for these two events.
Nominees may request additional room reservations for extra attendees (beyond the one guest) at the Hotel Palomar. Nominees must make the room request and pay the hotel directly at checkout.
